Community Code
Purpose
- To share ideas, resources and support each other in implementing the EMU Maths program.
- To promote inquiring, collaborating, modelling and reflecting on the EMU Maths program.
- To establish a learning community between EMU Maths teachers.
Respect: Please treat all other community members with respect. Avoid any personal attacks, slurs, profanity, vulgarity or abuse in your comments. It is expected that all group members will be respectful of differing opinions and backgrounds. Healthy disagreement is encouraged; however, anyone making insulting, harassing, or personally disrespectful comments will be asked to desist, and if necessary, will be banned from the network.
Copyright Compliance: The copyright material of third parties (for example, software, database files, documentation, cartoons, articles, graphic files, music files, video files, text and down loaded information) must not be used without authorisation to do so. Where materials being developed contain the use of copyrighted materials, all appropriate written permissions are to be sought from the copyright owners before materials are posted on the site. This requirement also applies to student work. The copyright source and/or authors/creators of the material must be clearly acknowledged. Written copies of the permission should be retained by the developer/originator of the content.
When downloading or copying any material, attention needs to be paid to the copyright conditions specified on documents, as well as other general copyright conditions which can be specified in a websites’ legal disclaimer or copyright notice. The materials are not to be used for any commercial purposes. Appropriate Content: Please use good common sense when posting content and participating in discussions. This includes, but is not limited to, the following guidelines:
- Do not submit content that may express pornography, obscenity, vulgarity, profanity, hatred, bigotry, racism or violence.
- Do not submit anything that you should keep confidential under any law. For example, do not submit information subject to a non-disclosure agreement, any inside information, or any proprietary or confidential information that you may have learned from an employer or any other person.
- Do not submit or upload any material that could harm or disrupt another user’s computer system, including software viruses, spyware, or other similar programs, or would allow others to inappropriately access software or websites.
- Do not submit links to any external site that may violate these rules.
Commercial Content: The purpose of the EMU Blog is for the exchange of information and resources among members. Promotional messaging of a commercial nature is prohibited. Postings containing suggestions or resources related to commercial content is appropriate only when it contributes a valuable resource either in response to an existing question/discussion, or when its inclusion is directly pertinent to the topic being discussed.
Community managers will use their discretion in determining the appropriateness of postings or member activities on the blog and will take follow up action as needed.
Content Cleanup: We reserve the right to move Forum discussions that look like they belong in a different category and close duplicate discussions and point people to ongoing discussions about the same topic. We don’t intend to censor anyone, but we may remove a discussion or replies in a discussion if they’re causing confusion, are mean-spirited, or are otherwise inappropriate.
